Athens
Athens is full of history, but we were only there for a limited time, so we just strolled around the old town below the Acropolis (Plaka) near our hotel, full of souvenir shops, old churches and restaurants.
Holy University Church of the Presentation of the Virgin Mary
The church was built at the beginning of the 11th c. on the ruins of an ancient temple, dedicated either to the goddess Athena or to Demeter, and was probably named after its donor. The name of the church, Kapnikarea, which probably comes from the profession of the founder, a collector of the so-called "kapnikon" tax
Tiny entrance doorway
Tourist souvenirs of "Ancient Greece" - probably made in China
Ornate Sculptures in a local gallery
First glimpse of the Acropolis
Syntagma Square at night
Roman Forum of Athens
Omonia (Concorde) Square
