BUTCHART GARDENS (VICTORIA ISLAND)
Butchart Gardens began in 1904 when Jennie Butchart transformed her family's depleted limestone quarry into a beautiful garden, starting with a single rose and sweet peas. Over the next three decades, she established several formal gardens, including the Sunken Garden, Japanese Garden, Rose Garden, and Italian Garden. The 55 acre gardens are still family-owned and operated.
Some of the old quarry equipment still remains.
There is a carousel in the gardens.
This is the original house of the Burchart family. Very modest.
