ROVINJ, Croatia
Rovinj, one of Croatia’s most romantic and picturesque coastal towns, sits on the western coast of the Istria peninsula. It was once an island but is now connected to the mainland. Known for its Venetian-style pastel houses, labyrinthine cobblestone streets, and crystal-clear Adriatic waters, this former fishing port contains the church of St Euphemia a Roman Christian martyr. Local legend claims her stone casket miraculously floated onto Rovinj's shores in the year 800AD and it is on display in the church. There is a Venetian Empire Arch preserved in the town.
